E-Coat Finishing
The reason it looks the same in year ten.
An 11-stage electrocoating process, applied evenly to every weld and inside every cavity — the places a spray gun can’t reach. It reaches the welds and the inside of every cavity, so the steel we build for you spends its life working instead of rusting.
The shop standard
The most important coat your equipment will ever wear.
Steel rusts, and salt only speeds it up. A doubles rig running the winter I-90 corridor takes more corrosive abuse in five years than most equipment sees in twenty. We built our finishing line for exactly that — so corrosion is our problem to solve up front, not yours to chase later.
E-coat deposits a uniform layer of cathodic epoxy on every welded joint and inside every box-section cavity, then a polyurethane topcoat goes on for color and UV. It is the same finish that goes on our military builds — and a big reason a Silver Eagle needs less maintenance over its life.
How it works
Prep
Blast booth, controlled surface profile.
Every frame, drawbar, and fifth wheel gets grit-blasted to a controlled surface profile before it touches the line. Clean steel takes coating better than dirty steel — so we don’t skip it.
E-Coat Line
11-stage cathodic epoxy bath.
Eleven stages of cleaning, pretreatment, electrocoating, and rinsing. The coating bonds electrochemically to every exposed surface — outside, inside, and in the recesses no spray gun could ever reach.
Topcoat
Four heated paint booths.
After E-coat, we finish in one of four dedicated heated booths with a high-quality polyurethane topcoat, color-matched to your fleet. The look holds up as long as the protection does.
What that gets you
- Abrasive blast to a controlled, coating-ready surface profile
- An 11-stage cathodic epoxy E-coat line
- Uniform coverage that reaches inside welded box sections
- Polyurethane topcoats in custom fleet color matches
- A galvanized frame option for the harshest corrosion environments
- Mil-spec finishing for U.S. Army and Department of Defense work
